We've compiled answers to the most frequent questions about our clinical practices and appointments.

Not sure where to start?
That's completely normal. Speak with our team and we'll point you toward the right treatment.
Get in Touch(opens in a new tab)No, you do not need a doctor's referral to make an appointment with us. Our physiotherapists are trained to assess, diagnose and treat a wide range of conditions and injuries. During your first appointment, we will assess your condition and discuss the most appropriate treatment and rehabilitation plan with you.
If further medical investigation, imaging or assessment is needed, we will let you know and recommend the appropriate next steps. Some insurance providers require a referral from a doctor for physiotherapy treatment to be eligible for reimbursement. We recommend checking your individual policy requirements before your appointment.
At the moment, Sage Physiotherapy does not offer direct billing with insurance companies or third-party providers. Full payment will be required after each treatment session. We will provide you with the relevant receipt and documentation so that you can submit your claim directly to your insurance provider.
As coverage and claim requirements vary between insurance policies, we recommend checking with your insurance provider before your appointment to confirm your eligibility for physiotherapy treatment.
To help us make the most of your first appointment, please bring along:
- Doctor's referral or letter, if you have one
- Relevant imaging reports and scans, such as X-rays, MRI or ultrasound reports. If possible, bring the imaging files or access to the digital images as well.
- Relevant medical reports or previous treatment records, if applicable
- Details of any medications you are currently taking, if relevant to your condition
- Comfortable clothing that allows your physiotherapist to assess and move the area being treated
If you're unsure what to bring, just come as you are. Your physiotherapist will guide you through the assessment and let you know if any additional information is needed.
We recommend arriving 5 to 10 minutes before your appointment so you have some time to settle in and get ready for your session. Arriving on time also gives your physiotherapist the full appointment time to focus on your care. If you arrive after your scheduled time, your session may need to be shortened or cancelled to avoid affecting the next patient's appointment.
We understand that plans can change and unexpected circumstances can arise. We kindly ask for at least 24 hours notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment. Appointments cancelled or rescheduled with less than 24 hours notice, as well as missed appointments (no-shows), will be charged at the full session fee.
If an emergency or unexpected circumstance comes up, please contact us as soon as possible and we will do our best to assist where we can.
